European Union Supports Georgia in Strengthening the Link
Between Migration and Development
Representatives of state structures and local authorities, international organizations, civil society groups and media are invited to attend the presentation of four projects funded for Georgia within the funding call of the EC-UN Joint Initiative on Migration and Development on 23 February 2010 in Kutaisi, West Georgia.
Tbilisi, 22 February 2010 – The representatives of state structures and local authorities, international organizations, civil society groups, media and other interested parties are invited to the presentation of the projects funded by the European Union through the EC-UN Joint Initiative on Migration and Development in Georgia. The presentation will take place in Kutaisi with participation of the EU Delegation to Georgia.
The four projects funded through the EC-UN Joint Initiative on Migration and Development in Georgia aim at utilizing the migrant potential for enhancing the economic development of Georgia. This will include strengthening links with Georgian diaspora to facilitate business development in Georgia, promoting cooperation between migrant communities and local authorities of Georgia to contribute to socio-economic development at the community level, improving skills and qualifications of returned migrants and integrating them into the Georgian labour market and other activities.
The total funding for the projects in Georgia is around 735,000 Euro. The projects are implemented by the selected Georgian civil society organizations in partnership with their respective EU based counterparts from the Netherlands, Germany and Latvia.
